Governor Delcares Drought Emergency
Citing 'crisis,' governor calls for 20% cut in water use - Sacramento Politics
And just how many billions of gallons of water has the LA Storm drain/river just dumped into the ocean? We should be pushing to get that water back into the ground - into the LA Aquifer so we can use it.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a drought emergency Friday after three years of below-average rain and snow in California.
In his call, the governor repeated a call by state officials for all residents to immediately cut water use by 20 percent. If that falls short, Schwarzenegger said, mandatory rationing is an option.
"This is a crisis, just as severe as an earthquake or raging wildfire, and we must treat it with the same urgency by upgrading California's water infrastructure to ensure a clean and reliable water supply for our growing state," he said.

Finally!
But we can certainly call them the G-No-P!
Outflank the Big Health lobby NOW

The news is awash with the battle cry already being howled by entrenched opponents of Obama reform—including Big Corporate Healthcare.
Move-On has a petition — go sign it and spread it!
...Today's Wall Street Journal reports lobbyists are lining up to torpedo Obama's health care plans.Having non-profit health insurance in the old days (pre-1970s) was next-best-thing to national health care--until Nixon unleashed it as a for-profit animal. Now, an outdated workplace-based format (or none at all), plus zooming costs and premiums to support duplicative, profit-driven corporate overhead and investors has been the result—not better and affordable health for Americans. Let us NOT back down on fixing this generational problem and granting decent health to our citizens as the REST of the industrial world has done—and give our hard-pressed domestic business world a leg up on foreign competition. Wean the private companies off profits fairly, if we must, but do NOT let this travesty cripple our country any longer.
If these lobbyists drown out the voice of the American people, we're through. And right now, our elected officials are hearing a lot more from them than from us.
Tell Congress, and drown out the healthcare greed machine: Now is the time!

FDR--1936 or 2009?

This will get your blood boiling--and once again, prove "he who forgets history is doomed to repeat it." Or, "the more things change, the more they stay the same." Or even my own: "After the greed and incompetence of the last four years, it's not rocket science to know what went wrong--and sadly, how to fix it. We just don't teach history any more."
Check it out and hear his voice: DailyKos had this gem, but here it is again, and you tell me: Is this Obama or FDR (running for Term #2 in 1936) talking?
For nearly four years you have had an Administration which instead of twirling its thumbs has rolled up its sleeves. We will keep our sleeves rolled up.
We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace—business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.
Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me—and I welcome their hatred.
I should like to have it said of my first Administration that in it the forces of selfishness and of lust for power met their match. I should like to have it said of my second Administration that in it these forces met their master.
